Video BALTIC 500 Regatta – Pure 49 in motion

Impressions of the race:

The BALTIC 500 is the double-handed long-distance regatta in the Baltic Sea. A unique challenge that takes sailors in pairs on a course from Strande through the Belts and Sounds, the Kattegat to the border of the Skagerrak at the turning point North Læsø.

From there it is back to the finish at Kiel lighthouse. Over almost 500 nautical miles, the BALTIC 500 offers everything that makes a Baltic Sea regatta exciting: open stretches, narrow sections with strong currents, busy areas where the full attention of the two-person teams is required. Plus challenging meteorological conditions that open up many tactical options.

The features of the custom aluminium yacht Pure 49 are a pilothouse, lifting keel, double rudder, water ballast tanks, carbon mast, fathead-mainsail, genoa, self-tacking jib, code zero, and gennaker. Designed by Martin Menzner (Berckemeyer Yacht Design), who is a proven specialist for high-performance aluminium boats, who skilfully mixes technical sailing details and special features.
